100 Years of Grüne Woche: Breaking Barriers and Shaping the Future of Food Production with SIXFOLD

Grune Woche Sixfold

The 100th anniversary of the Grüne Woche in Berlin provided the perfect setting for us to discuss the food production of tomorrow. From January 16th to 20th, the Future Food Factory OWL (TH OWL) was part of the North Rhine-Westphalia hall at the "Genussregion OWL" stand – right at the heart of the dialogue on technological innovation.

More than 1,300 visitors experienced firsthand at our stand how innovations like 3D chocolate printing or visionary start-up products are transforming the industry. However, behind the excitement for new technologies, there is often a real hurdle: How can companies efficiently integrate these complex processes into their daily operations?

This is exactly where our SIXFOLD project comes in. We support companies in overcoming these specific implementation barriers. Alongside the trade fair activities, we delved deeper into this topic on-site through interactive Lego Serious Play mini-workshops. The central question: How can we successfully transfer new technologies into industrial practice?

The result was clear: Storytelling is the key. To break down technological barriers, we must make the added value tangible. An example from our discussions: Many initially view 3D food printing as a "gimmick." In reality, however, it is a tool for efficiency and securing skilled labor. When a pastry chef automates the production of wedding cake decorations using a 3D printer, they save valuable human resources – a clear competitive advantage through technology.

Overall, the fair was a great success – characterized by international flair, deep insights, and the realization that the future of food production needs not just technology, but also the right stories to dissolve barriers in minds and businesses alike.

A big thank you to the entire team and all partners for this inspiring exchange!
