WiTWINtake is a cross-department digital solution designed to modernise wine production by integrating data from vineyard management, grape intake, cellar operations, and financial systems. Developed to help wineries reduce manual work and improve traceability, the system creates a digital twin of the entire production process—enabling real-time insights and smarter, data-driven decisions.
Many wineries struggle with disconnected software tools and manual data entry, which can lead to inefficiencies and lost information. WiTWINtake tackled this challenge by integrating existing tools—such as eVineyard and AccountingBox—into a unified, intelligent system.
Another key objective was to improve grape quality assessment during intake, a process that has traditionally been subjective and error-prone. WiTWINtake introduced a camera-based grading system, trained using historical harvest data, to deliver faster and more objective evaluations at one of the most critical points in wine production.
WiTWINtake connects four specialised software solutions used in the winery and enables seamless data reuse between departments. The platform eliminates duplication, supports real-time traceability, and streamlines decision-making throughout the winemaking journey.
At the intake stage, the project deployed a camera-based grading system capable of consistently assessing the quality of five common grape varieties—significantly reducing manual input and variability.
WiTWINtake was successfully piloted at Radgonske Gorice, Slovenia’s oldest and largest sparkling wine producer. The pilot demonstrated improved coordination and efficiency across the winery’s entire operation—from the vineyard to business management.
The project also catalysed new collaborations with additional technology providers and was recognised as a Good Practice by Digital Innovation Hub Slovenia, highlighting its role in advancing digitalisation in the wine industry.
