The Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (TH OWL) is an important part of the dynamic scientific and economic region Ostwestfalen-Lippe.

With around 5,700 students, 173 professorships, and a third-party funding of more than 33,6 million euros, the TH OWL is one of the strongest research universities of applied sciences in Germany. At its three locations in Lemgo, Detmold and Höxter, the TH OWL maps the innovation chain, from research and the development of technical and creative solutions to the founding of companies. One of the particular strengths of the TH OWL is its interdisciplinary research. In its profile areas industry 4.0 and digitisation, life science, space and culture and environment and resources, scientists from different disciplines work together and pool their expertise.

Future Food Factory OWL: The Future Food Factory OWL is a research centre and demonstration platform for the digital transformation in food technology. Guided by the motto "where food meets IT", it brings together expertise on digitalisation and automation as well as food technology know-how from the Institute for Life Science Technologies (ILT.NRW) and the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (inIT) as well as partners from industry, science and networks. Research focuses on real-time quality control, food data processing and automation, the refinery for food systems approach as well as food innovations.
